About the lab
We study how the brain learns what matters. We are based in the Department of Psychology at UW–Madison.
Our story
How we came to be
We’re a group of scientists united by one question: how does complex behavior arise from the conversation between brain cells and the neurochemicals that modulate them?
Based in the Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, we bring together experiment, computation, and theory to find out—pairing precise measurements of neural activity with models that explain and predict behavior.
We welcome students and postdocs from every background. If you share the curiosity, grab your ticket and your suitcase—and join us on this train.
What guides us
Our core values
The principles we hold ourselves to—in the lab and beyond.
Inclusive excellence
Great science needs many perspectives. We embrace diversity and work to make everyone feel they belong.
Compassionate collaboration
We support one another's growth and well-being — not just our results.
Equitable innovation
We work to make research, mentorship, and opportunity fair and accessible to all.
Open dialogue
We value different viewpoints and communicate honestly, directly, and with respect.
